Student retention and academic success are a top priority for the University of South Florida, its respective colleges, and students. Current research lists the following as the most common reasons why students drop out of college: 1) poor academic preparedness; b) low supportive campus climate; c) low commitment to educational goals and the institution; d) poor social and academic integration; and, e) lack of financial aid. aid. Moreover, the literature indicates that several key student health behaviors including alcohol abuse, lack of sleep, smoking, inconsistent wake-up times, lack of social support, lack of physical fitness, and maladaptive coping strategies are also related to quality of life, retention, and student success.
This application, MoBull Wellness, is here to help students with these issues by guiding them to the appropriate resource. These issues are presumed to fall under the following categories: academic, career, emotional, financial, physical, purposeful, and social. Under each category, it will contain topical information and resources that the USF Tampa campus offers. Also, each category will have a questionnaire to assess the users wellness in the respective category. In addition, there is a "Resources" page that contains various resources available at the USF Tampa campus (Campus Map, University Police, Counseling Center, etc.).
